Now sometimes it may not work cuz Google don't like people downloading copyrighted stuff (if they had liked you wud have seen a download button on youtube long ago) so Google may turn their back to the magic url and you get a fancy error page like this:-

What file extension is it? When I tried your trick, I got a file marked "get_video" with no file extension. Windows Media Player nor Quicktime can read the file.
